Top 25 Pics of 2009

Here are 25 of my favorite images from 2009! It was a very busy year for me. In January, I traveled to Iowa to photograph bald eagles in below zero weather. It was super cold, but I got some great shots of our national bird.

In July, I took a month off to photograph out west. I spent time photographing in the following states: Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, and Missouri. I learned a hard lesson while out there though…always back up your images. I lost over 800GBs worth of pictures when a hard drive I had stored them on crashed the last day of my trip. The only images I have from the first 3/4s of the trip are 28 that I posted to Facebook. I lost all of my images from Great Sand Dunes National Park, Grand Tetons National Park, Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park. My advice to anyone who is taking a big trip…take backup hard drives. I tried to save some money by just using one hard drive and it cost me 1000s of images.

In October, I had the pleasure of photographing Sarah & Brent’s wedding at Ocean Lodge in St. Simons Island, GA. We took some great shots there and then went for a day after/trash-the-dress shoot at Jekyll Island with a couple of their friends and had a lot of fun. Most of my favorite wedding images from the year come from that shoot!

I had a great year in 2009 and I can’t wait to see what opportunities present themselves in 2010. I’ve already booked quite a few weddings for next year, and I’ve had some great meetings with potential clients this week. Happy New Year to all my old and new friends.
